Interactive “Book about Me” Series

These interactive books will take parents and young children on a reading and writing adventure together. They relive the fun of a special event – a visit to Grandmother’s house, a trip to the zoo, their birthday, or a family holiday – by recording it in these books. Children become the books’ authors as they finish the sentences using their own words and paste photographs or draw pictures to illustrate them. Available

Teaching Kids to Make Good Decisions DVD

Learn how to teach children a structured way of looking at a situation or problem. This DVD illustrates the process that helps children describe a situation, consider what options they have in responding to the situation, and finally, choose the solution they think will work best. Building a good relationship with children, teaching them how to say “no” and mean it, how to disagree appropriately, and how to make good decisions will prepare them for times when they are being pressured by their peers to make difficult choices. Many children at times have problems related to school from getting homework done, to following school rules, or getting along with classmates. This DVD shows what parents can do at home and in partnership with the school to help improve children’s academic performance and school behavior. It gives you tips on what you can do to help children improve their behavior, follow the school¹s code of conduct, and meet teachers’ expectations. Available August 1.

On this CD, Kevin Kush shares his strategies for guiding and motivating all students to do their best. With passion, humor, and empathy, he reminds teachers and coaches why they work with young people and what they can do to inject high expectations and energy back into their teaching.

Competing with Character
