by June Stride, EdD
Illustrated by: Anthony Zammit

Most students learn best by doing. This guide utilizes an acting model to help students develop effective on-the-job communication skills and healthy working relationships. Each of the seven acts involves students in planning, reflecting, speaking up, and speaking out as well as responding to dilemmas as seen from alternative perspectives.

Item Number 84-056

Product Description

This program uses a “learning through acting” model that prepares teens transitioning from school to the larger community to use social skills and responsible decision-making in addressing work-related dilemmas. Seven acts focus on the character virtues of responsibility, respect, fairness, citizenship, trustworthiness, caring, and civic responsibility. Three scenes in each act view the situations from the perspective of three different characters. Students are asked to pretend they are the characters in the scene, to think and react as they believe the characters might, and then to role play the scene.

A Student Book (149 pgs.) sets up the scenes, gives student directions, and includes comprehension and reflection questions. The Teacher’s Guide (159 pgs.) includes additional information, question answer key, and a CD with a classroom license for reproducible pages.
