Understanding God's Presense in a Broken World. Hearing God's Message of Hope Through the Prophets.
Biblical Prophets such as Ezekiel and Jeremiah witnessed evil, apathy, and stubborn willfulness in the lives of Old Testament people. These Prophets were moved by God to issue dire warnings to the people of what would be the consequences of their sinfulness and unwillingness to repent. These same Prophets also carried incredible messages of hope and restoration - that God's love and mercy are constant for those who return to the right path. Today's teens face some of the same evil and apathy that plagued Old Testament people. The Journey of Hope curriculum helps students learn how to best handle the sin, temptations, and hardships they face by applying these Prophetic warnings and messages of hope to their own lives.
The Journey of Hope Teacher Guide contains more than 20 step-by-step lesson plans that provide teachers with lesson objectives, discussion outlines, activities, review questions, and reading and homework assignments to use in a classroom or youth group setting. Each session is also structured to help students reflect and make the connection between each Prophet's message from God and how to apply this message of hope and restoration to their own lives. The dozens of homework and activity worksheets provided inside may be reproduced for classroom use.
Journey of Hope has been taught successfully to teens in high school religious education classes at Boys Town (the original Father Flanagan's Boys' Home). This effective curriculum can help you bring God's promise of hope and healing to the youth in your care.
There is also a Reader's Guide for students that supplements the teacher's guide. The reader can be used independently.
