Description

He's Not Just Teasing! is the first title in Jennifer Licate's Navigating Friendships book series – a quick read chapter book for students in grades 4 through 7 that examines the differences between bullying and teasing, the fragile friendships of children, and the power of kindness. This is a great story for pre-teen and early adolescents who are struggling with changing friendships, learning about self-advocacy, and figuring out how to get along with others.

Included with this set is the the activity guide for teachers and counselors to use with students in conjunction with the chapter book. The text from the story is incorporated into the activity guide and is designed to engage students in meaningful conversation by offering discussion questions and activities after each chapter. There are 20 activities along with a digital content link for reproducible forms and worksheets.

Malcolm has a problem, and his name is Joe.

Malcolm is often the target of good-natured ribbing because he's an excitable scatterbrain. Malcolm knows the jokes and laughs at his expense are all in good fun and sometimes even teach him a lesson. But the snark coming from Joe isn't funny.

Joe taunts and bullies Malcolm. When he attacks, Malcolm's friends do nothing. They are silent bystanders, and Malcolm is left to wonder why. Can he find the courage to ask them for help, or will Malcolm have to stand up for himself?
