Description
Self-control is the ability to regulate one's emotions, thoughts, and behavior and to keep one's cool in the face of disappointment. These four activities developed by author Bryan Smith can help children with self-control. The lessons are designed to accompany the storybook, Of Course It's a Big Deal! Worksheets will reinforce techniques for calming down and help children learn not to overreact.
4 Downloadable Activities include:
- Activity 1 - My Happy Place - Students will create a happy place they can use when trying to calm down.
- Activity 2 - What Does It Look or Feel Like? - Students will determine what it looks and feels like in the different stages of the feelings meter.
- Activity 3 - Ways to Calm Down - Student will create 4 strategies for them to calm down when they start to feel like they may overreact.
- Activity 4 - What an Over-Reactor! - Students will read a situation and determine how they would help the person who is overreacting.
