The purpose of this activity is for students to recognize and identify how to alter one's environment to improve a situation.

Students will review qualities that some people have that make it easier for them to overcome obstacles or challenges, and succeed even when things become very difficult. They will then have to think of a time when something was very hard for them, but triumphed anyway. With this information, students can move on to the worksheets provided along with flipchart.

This exercise is from Tamara Zentic's GRIT & Bear It! Activity Guide and is recommended for grades 5-10.
