Considering Consequences helps students develop basic critical thinking skills necessary to plan ahead when thinking through decisions. Unintended consequences occur when we do not think through the decisions and choices we make before we make them. The worksheet provided with this lesson presents a list of actions. Students will then brainstorm a list of possible consequences for each of the actions, whether they are positive or negative. Other suggested activities are included with the handout.
This activity is designed to accompany the Middle School Misfits: The Stained Glass Tree chapter book, but can be used without it as well.
This exercise is recommended for grades 3-7.
